Intro to Sewing I

This course is perfect for those who have never sewn before or those who need a refresher on the sewing machine. In this 3-day series, you will learn about the parts and accessories of the sewing machine and how to properly wind the bobbin, thread the machine, and check stitch tension.

This course is for beginner students interested in venturing into garment sewing. You will make lounge pants with curved inset front pockets and a knit top with cuffed dolman sleeves from Lockstitch & Lustre patterns in this 3-day series.

Kids Garments

In this class, you will chose between one of Lockstitch and Lustre’s patterns: the Jade dress, Bran pants, or the Effie kimono.

The Reversible Crossover

In this class, you will use Lockstitch & Lustre’s pattern to make a reversible crossover bag perfect for carrying groceries or whatever items while keeping your hands free.

Intro to Garment Patterns

This is the pre-class before Garment Central. If you are new to picking a garment pattern and you don’t know where to start, this class is for you!

Garment Central

Garment Central is the place to be when you have questions with cutting, fitting, and stitching a garment with a pattern! Think of it as a help studio for garment pattern sewing.

Intro to Serger

Don’t let the serger intimidate you! In this class, you will learn all about the parts of the serger, how to thread the machine, and learn about the three common stitches that are used to finish edges.

Serger Practice - Making a T-Shirt

In this class you will be using a Lockstitch & Lustre pattern and a domestic serger to complete a short sleeve T-shirt with neck band.

Serger Practice – Making an A-line Skirt

In this class, you will use a Lockstitch & Lustre pattern and a domestic serger to complete a knit A-line skirt with a waistband. We will talk about coverstitch hems vs. twin needle stitched hems. There are two main options for lengths.

Basic Pattern Drafting – Half Circle Skirt

In this class, you will draft your own pattern and complete a half circle skirt with a waistband and invisible zipper.

Copy Your Favorite Panties

In this class, you will learn how to copy your favorite pair for the fit and style. We'll create a pattern that you will use to sew up a new pair with a choice of elastic at the waist and leg openings.

Zip it Good

Learn the anatomy of zippers, which zipper to use when, how to shorten a zipper, and sew mock-ups using four common applications: centered, lapped, invisible, and exposed (the kind used in garments).

Workshop: Rope Bowls & Coasters

In this workshop, you will make a rope bowl or coasters using a sewing machine. You will learn how to make bias strips to cover the rope with fabric or you may choose to leave them bare with different colored stitching for a minimalist look!
